reaking: 5 PhD, 36 Masters Degree holders apply for Senator Rafiu’s Karakata empowerment 2022.



History is being made at the maiden edition of the 3 legged empowerment structure organized by Distinguished Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, which had no fewer than five PhD, 36 Masters degree holders among the 3,629 applicants that applied for the maiden edition of the entrepreneurship, digital skills and digital finance empowerment, tagged Karakata 2022.


This was contained in a statement issued by Amofin Titilope Akogun, the Team Lead for N - Gold Consultants, handling the programme. 


The Senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara South, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, on Wednesday, 21st December had presented the Kwara South Economic Empowerment Initiative, tagged, Karakata 2022 to the people of the Senatorial district.


The initiative plans to train not less than 350 indigenes of the Senatorial district on productive skills of 21st century, and empower them with start-up capital as well as tools for self employment.



Addressing the people at the unveiling of his campaign team, in Omupo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, on Wednesday, Dr. Rafiu, said the empowerment program, first of its kind, will create jobs, reduce unemployment, produce millionaires and enhance economic development in the Kwara South.


He also added that the empowerment will run alongside other sustainable empowerments for students, women and artisans as part of plans to create several millionaires in the next 10 years.


The statement stated that no fewer than 350 young people will be empowered under the Karakata initiative in Digital Training, Purchases from over 100 factories in the country, Digital finance, including granting start up capital to all participants/beneficiaries.


He said that the breakdown in the application, revealed that there were 856 Bachelor of Science (BSc), 1477 Ordinary and Higher National Diploma (HND), 284 National Certificate of Education (NCE) holders.


Others are: 971 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) holders while 17 were invalid.


Of the 3629 applicants, 7% are currently employed, 28% are self-employed, 6% are business oriented, 10% are business owners, 8% are business owners already, while 41% are unemployed. 


275 of the applicants are from Ekiti local government area of Kwara, 674 are from Irepodun local government,  227 of them are in Isin, 244 applied from Oke-Ero Local Government Area.


However, 813 applied from Offa local government, 734 are from Ifelodun, while the remaining 662 applicants are from Oyun local government area of the state.


The statement stated that each applicant would be called for a phone interview session after which 550 semi - successful applicants would be shortlisted for physical screening that will prune the successful applicants to 350.


He said the 550 applicants to be shortlisted would be invited for physical interview where the number would be pruned to 350 as the final successful candidates for the programme.


The 350 successful applicants would then proceed into weeks of Online and physical trainings to determine the 7 Super Stars, 33 Mega Stars and 300 Ambassadors.
