RUMBLES IN KWARA OVER KWASU VICE CHANCELORSHIP

RUMBLES IN KWARA OVER  KWASU VICE CHANCELORSHIP

The Governing Council of Kwara State University, Molete has recomnended three names to the  State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the vice chancellorship of the institution.

The controversial list forwarded  by KWASU  Governing Council  Chancellor excluded any candidate from Kwara South and all candidate who applied for the top job were deliberately not shortlisted for interview.

The recommended names are Professor Saka Mahmud ( Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration), Prof. Isa Gana, (Nigerian Ambassador to Japan) and Prof. Akanbi, son of late jurist Dr. Mustapha Akanbi.

No candidate from Kwara South was invited from interview by the search committee that comprised 5 members from Kwara Central and a woman on sabbatical from University of Ilorin who is from Kwara South.

A seasoned administrator and council member from Kwara South , Alh. Kola Yusuf who was initially on the interview panel was replaced with a younger member of the council from Kwara Central.

The deputy vice chancellor, academic, Prof. Jamiu was also excluded from the interview panel because he is from Kwara South.
In the interview, Mahmud scored 86 percent , Gana, a devotee of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, who was interviewed through Skype scored 84 while Prof Mohammed Akanbi SAN scored 63.

It has come to light that the advertisement for the vice chancellorship vacancy deliberately skipped requirement for age  because one of the recommended candidates who is the preferred candidate from an ethnic group would not qualify for   a 5-year tenure.

There is clamour for rotation of the principal offices in Kwasu. Kwara Central has spent 10 years uniterrupted as vice chancellor through Na'Allah while Kwara south has also spent 10 years as Registrar.

The Council has recommended a candidate from Kwara south and a candidate from Kwara central as Registrar.

There is agitation in the North and South for the vice chancellorship to go to another senatorial district after 10 years in the Central. The same agitation is being made for the registrar to be zoned outside Kwara south.

Re: Senator Lola Ashiru, A slap to Kwara South.

Our attention has just been drawn to an online publication of some set of busy bodies and their agents/cronies alluding Senator Lola Ashiru's action to publicize his quest for Legislative Aides publicly a slap to Kwara Southerners.

I need to bluntly state here that advertising to get the best hands shouldn't be regarded as an insult but a laudable intention to hire the best hands for an optimal performance.

We have been accustomed to a practice of hiring family members, cronies and sometimes family members as Aides to Distinguished lawmakers, and the results seem not to have endeared us to the lawmakers.

An attempt not to make the affair an exclusionist affair shouldn't be a subject of ridicule by a few masquerading themselves as a "movement".

The essence of his advertisement via a consultant is clear and never ambiguous: "get the best of hands".

What the People of Kwara South are better concerned with is the output. To wit:- getting the best results from a people oriented Lawmaker.

Kwara Southerners have reposed their confidence in Senator Ashiru and it beholves on him not to betray such trust.

At the end of a 4 year tenure, Kwara Southerners would not be interested in whom he appointed as Aides but what he is able to achieve within his 4- year reign as their Representative in the Red Chamber.

One would simply not ask him to compensate or appreciate people or families who suffered one casualty or the other. That is believed to be one of his Cardinal principles towards sustaining his support base, but should not be a yardstick to appoint his aides. That would equate asking him to appoint an aide from every family that supported him to emerge as Kwara South Senator.

The Distinguished Senator has been sent on an errand and should be allowed to chose those he feels would assist him in fulfilling his mandate to his people.

Kwara South Movement were known to be proud supporters of the Saraki administration and the erstwhile Kwara South Senator; Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and one would ordinarily expect them to commence the ventilation of their anger.

Senator Lola Ashiru holds the ace, he would be adjudged by his performance after his 4 year representation and should not give in to distractions as this is a time to build the foundation of his representation sojourn at the Red Chamber.

We urge all and Sundry, especially in Kwara South to keep  supporting the Distinguished Senator in his bid to offer a distinct representation of Kwara South for the next Four Years.

3) PDP alluding APC have imported thugs and crying wolf on the redeployment of DPOs in Some Local Govts, a routine redeployment, shows their cowardice and how they have probably done in time past while in the mainstream politics. Only a thief knows how a thief operates.
4) When a sitting governor and their candidate with an allegedly forged certificate becomes so unsettled even on the campaign Podium, you observe that they for see an obvious defeat.
5) When the campaign crowd of the APC candidate far out number those of the PDP mega rally that has the Governor and its 2019 candidate, the implication is obvious.
5) The popularity of APC Candidate, to their candidate shows that when you allow the people choose their candidate and not impose on them, your campaigns become simpler.
