Kwara South 2023 Elections: Simple Steps on How to Transfer your Permanent Voters Card

Kwara South 2023 Elections: Simple Steps on How to Transfer your Permanent Voters Card

In 2018, Funmi was living and working in Enugu State. She registered for her Permanent Voters Card (PVC) there and voted during the 2019 general elections.

However, in 2021, Funmi relocated to Omu Aran, in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State

and according to her, she cannot travel to Enugu state to perform her civic duty (vote) in the forthcoming election even though she genuinely desires to vote. Funmi doesn’t want to disappoint, so what shall she do?

Well, Section 58 of the Electoral Act, 2010 says that “No person shall be permitted to vote at any polling unit other than the one to which he is allotted.”

Does this mean Funmi will not vote in the 2023 general election? Thankfully, No. According to the Electoral Act, she can still vote, but she will have to follow the instructions as stated in Section 13 of the Electoral Act.

“A person who before the election in a constituency other than the one in which he was registered may apply to the Resident Electoral Commission of the state he is currently resident for his name to be entered on the transferred voter’s list of the constituency”.

With this provision, it means Funmi will be able to vote if she applies/requests for a transfer of her voter’s card, and this is how to go about it.

Step 1: Visit the INEC Website

The first thing to do is to log in to https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/. When you do this, click on the sign-in/register button to create an account.

You will be shown a page like the one below. Fill in the accurate information and click on the continue button.

You will receive a confirmation email with a link to verify your account. Ensure to click on the link. When you do so, you will be redirected to a page for you to log in to your account to be able to start the process.

Step Two: Follow the Prompts

Once you successfully log in to your account, you will see a page like this.

Click on “request transfer” then fill in the necessary information on the next page. This is what the page looks like:

Ensure to fill in the information you have on your current PVC accurately. Click on the “Choose” drop-down and indicate if you are doing it for yourself or assisting someone, then click on “search for record”.

If the information you’ve provided is correct, a page showing all your details will appear.

Step 3: Review your Details

If the information that appears is yours, click on “start review” to begin the process. The next page that will pop up after this will appear like this one here.

Click on the “edit application,” and another page will appear.

Fill in the correct information, such as your level of education, birth, and place of origin. Click on the drop-down and accept that you wish to share your data with NIMC, then click on the “save and continue” button.

Step 4: Upload your Photograph

The next stage will require you to upload your photograph.

You will click on the “start camera” button to take a snapshot of yourself to upload your photograph. Two photographs will be uploaded. One with a clear face and natural expression/straight look (i.e., not smiling). The second photograph will also be a clear face, but a smile is required this time. INEC wants to know what you look like, angry or happy.

When you are done with this, click on the “save photo & continue” button to proceed to the next stage.

The next page that you will see will appear like the one below, saying that your “revalidation is successfully completed.”

Step 5: Download Slip and Visit the INEC Address in your Email

With this, you will be able to download/print your application slip which you will take to the Local Government Area in the email INEC will send to you.

If you follow these steps, you will be able to transfer your PVC and join other Nigerians to vote in the forthcoming election.

If you need more information about the transfer of your PVC to your current place of residence, you can check through and contact the INEC help desk in your state of residence.
