Meet Barr. JOSEPH TITILOPE AKOGUN, Aspiring Member, Kwara State House of Assembly, Irepodun Constituency, Kwara State.
Barrister Joseph Titilope Akogun was born almost 3 decades ago, into the family of Chief Obanla of Okore Compound; Chief Gbenga Joseph, in the city of Omu Aran, Kwara State, Nigeria.
Akogun as fondly called by admirers and political associates started his primary education in Joeson Nursery and Primary School, Boriya, Baruten local government area of the State, before returning to ilorin for his secondary school education where he attended Emmanuel Baptist College, Tanke, Ilorin for his SSCE.
He gained admission to the prestigious University of Ilorin for his Bachelor's Degree in Law and graduated with a second class upper,
He thereafter proceeded to Abuja campus of the Nigerian Law School, and was called to the Nigeria Bar in the year 2014.
The Young Political and Good Governance Activist started his law career with E.V. Uche Anene & Co. and then proceeded to Hope Ozegbe & Co., both in the city of Abuja, before establishing his firm TITILOPE EMMANUEL & CO. (Akogun Chambers), in 2017 in Abuja, FCT.
The Young Political Activist, and Former Public Relations’ Officer of the Students’ Union, Unilorin is known for his innovative ideas, activism and superlative performance while in any public office. His sojourn in his University politics, spurred him to champion the staging of the First Ever Students’ Leadership Summit and launching of the Students’ Union maiden Edition Journal themed “Challenges facing the youths in the 21st Century”, which had become an annual event till date in the Better by far University. This was towards inspiring the students of the University that “there is hope for the upcoming generation” especially after graduation from School.
Akogun in his activism spirit thereafter floated Tanke Community Students’ Association (TACOSA), which was a communication bridge between the Tanke Indigenes, Tanke Student Residents, the Students’ Union and the Kwara State Government.
TACOSA under Akogun’s Chairmanship was accustomed to engaging itself in Community development services like repairing damaged roads on Tanke axis, supported by other Students and some Tanke indigenes, burning heaps of refuse which received the commendation of the majority in his community, and gave the association a wider reach.
The activities of TACOSA later led to the intervention of the Kwara State Governor, Alh. Abdulfatah Ahmed, towards releasing Five (5) new transformers to Tanke community and the ABS Constituency Project, towards approving the rehabilitation of Tanke Oke Odo community road which had in time past being a nightmare to motorists.
His list of community services are endless, as the young Akogun was honoured as the “Most Innovative Executive of the Year” by the Students’ Union, University of Ilorin in 2013.
Young Akogun had through his BTA Foundation, saw the need to prioritize eradication of poverty with special focus on rural areas, this he has been able to actualise to wide acclaim through the initiation of a soft loan scheme for small scale business owners through his Compound Support Scheme (CSS), encouraging bright and indigent students, through his Outstanding Students’ Scholarship Scheme (OSS) and most especially facilitating access to Agricultural loans to farmers in conjuction with Federal Government Agencies, under the umbrella of Barrister Titilope Akogun (BTA) Foundation.
He has taken up the challenge of ensuring quality representation for the good people of Irepodun which will help militate against the serial sidelining of the local government which have sadly been our lot in recent times.
With Akogun's experience as a good governance advocate, a legal practitioner par excellence, a multi-linguist who speaks Baruba fluently, he is best position to quench Irepodun's long thirst for quality, responsive and responsible representation at the Kwara State House of Assembly, under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
